If you’re the owner of a small business, there’s a strong chance that you daydream of striking gold with success. Whether you’re preparing to open your doors for the first time or you’ve been working at it for a few years, success is what you’ve got your sights set on. Achieving success is often easier said than done. The Grow Idaho movement is looking to change that.
Grow Idaho is a project created by Terry Hansen of Hansen Group Company, a local business consulting firm. The goal of the movement is to lend a helping hand to local business and help business owners learn what it takes to succeed.
“The movement at its core is an effort to strengthen Idaho’s economy,” said Hansen. “Everybody knows that the backbone of Idaho’s economy are its small- and medium-sized businesses… What we’re noticing is that there is an increasing gap between businesses who become very, very successful, and those who are still trying to get over the hump, if you will. The distance is increasing between those two groups. So we want to try to strengthen Idaho's economy by strengthening these small- and medium-sized businesses, to help them thrive and grow and become more successful.”
Tips for success don’t just come from anywhere. The best advice comes from the experts; in this case, 100 experts. A total of 100 companies that have their roots in Idaho have been nominated to participate in the Grow Idaho movement. They’re based all over Idaho and have a wide variety of specialties and expertise, so no industry is left out. The CEOs and presidents of these companies will sit down and lend their business savvy and experience, and the interviews will be transformed into any and every format so that it’s easily distributed to anyone and everyone interested in hearing the secrets to success. Once the process starts rolling, new content will be published weekly.
“The interviews will be turned into podcasts, blog posts, articles, white papers, and in some cases, e-books. Possibly short videos. All of that material will be made available to other business owners on our website and on other channels like Amazon or iTunes. We want to be able to leverage as many online distribution sites as possible,” said Hansen.
The goal of the Grow Idaho movement is to put the tips and tools of success into the hands of the business owners who need them the most and who haven’t been able to access them before for one reason or another. By making everything available in any format online, there’s no stopping people from getting the advice they need to succeed. In the end, it comes down to giving a hand up to businesses that they haven’t had before.
“I want the owner of a company, whether it’s in Arco, Rexburg, Post Falls, Burley or Malad, who employs a half a dozen employees, who has been in business for 15 years and haven't made it past their first million dollars of revenue, to have the instruction, the training, the resources, the tips, the tools, the networking opportunities that they need to break through the million dollar mark they've been shooting for for 15 years,” said Hansen.
