American Heroes Celebration

Date: May 23, 2015

Created to honor our servicemen and women, the American Heroes Celebration offers free hamburgers, hotdogs and soft drinks to veterans and their families. The day will be filled with wagon rides, live music, a car show, military displays and a memorial service – all in recognition of those who fight to keep this country free.

Color Vibe 5K

Date: June 6, 2015

Location: Snake River Landing, Idaho Falls

Prepare to be blasted with color during this fun-filled and extremely colorful 5K. With four different color stations smattered throughout the fun run, it’s guaranteed you won’t go home the same color you came. The event is not timed, and all ages are welcome – kids 12 and under are free.

Teton Dam Marathon and Races

Date: June 13, 2015

Location: Rexburg/ Sugar City

Started in honor of the 1976 Teton Dam collapse, the Teton Dam Marathon and Races take place annually around the time of the tragedy’s anniversary. The races available include a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and relay. Both the marathon and relay begin at the Historic Teton Dam Site.

Idaho’s Free Fishing Day

Location: Idaho

Every second Saturday of June, Idaho opens its waters to anyone who would like to fish them – with or without a license. From first-timers to old-timers, the whole family can get in on the fun. Idaho Fish and Game will have several free events throughout the state on that day specifically to aid those new to fishing.

El Korah Shrine Circus

Scenic River Classic

To Bone and Back Relay

To Bone and Back offers several challenging race opportunities to runners of every kind – old, young and those in between. Forty-mile races can be run as eight-person relay teams or, for those ultimate racers, as one-person teams. For those who can’t find a team but still want to be part of the experience, they also offer 5-mile runs or 10-mile relays.

Celebrate America

Teton Valley Balloon Rally

Liberty Festival and Freedom Celebration

MAD Marathon

5th Annual Grand Teton Gunfights

Date: July 18-19, 2015

Location: Eagle Rock Outlaws Hideout

Watch the Old West come to life before your eyes in this two-day shootout competition. Men, women and youth will show off their fastest draws, competing for a variety of awards. This free, family-friendly event will also include a raffle and silent action and feature various vendors.

Bike for Kids

Date: July 13, 2015

Location: Snake River Landing, Idaho Falls

Strap on your helmets and gear up for a meaningful bike ride when you participate in the Bike for Kids event. Courses of varying lengths are available and the proceeds go to help children with disabilities receive a modified bicycle so they can ride too. A small carnival with games and activities will be available at the event for children.

War Bonnet Roundup

Idaho’s oldest rodeo returns – complete with bareback riding, saddle bronco riding, calf roping, barrel racing and much, much more; the final day of the rodeo is full of daredevil bull riding. Don’t miss the War Bonnet Roundup’s Rodeo Queen contest or golf tournament.

Shoshone-Bannock Indian Festival

Date: August 6-9, 2015

Location: Fort Hall powwow grounds

Come celebrate the 52nd annual Shoshone-Bannock Tribes Festival. Event activities include everything from traditional proceedings such as Indian relay horse racing, traditional handgame tournaments, indigenous children’s games and a community buffalo and salmon feast to more modern events such as softball and golf tournaments, art shows, parades and fun run. All events are open for the general public to attend or view.

Snake River Roaring Youth Jam

Date: August 6-8, 2015

Location: Civitan Plaza, Park & B St. & Greenbelt on Memorial Dr., Idaho Falls

This three-day youth arts and music festival fills the east side of the Snake River Greenbelt and is free to all. Kids are welcome to create art projects there, and live performing arts shows and local performers will contribute regularly to the fun-filled scene. All of these events lead up to an intense Battle of the Bands.

Snake River Duck Race

Date: August 8, 2015

Location: River Parkway, Idaho Falls

One day a year thousands of little, yellow rubber ducks float down the Snake River, “racing” to win their owners prizes. Don’t miss out! The day also includes various vendors that line the riverside, a classic car show, speed boat races, and a ping pong ball drop for the kids.

Eastern Idaho State Fair

One of eastern Idaho’s biggest events, the Eastern Idaho State Fair has been pleasing thousands for over a hundred years. Carnival rides, grandstand events, live performances, agricultural competitions, eating contests and hundreds of displays and vendors – the fair has it all (not to mention the delicious tiger ears!).

Spud Day

Date: September 19, 2015

Location: Shelley City Park

Ready for a tater takeover? Join Shelley’s Spud Day for potato sack races, spud relays, free baked potatoes, spud tugs and a potato picking contest! Booths and concessions will be set up all around the park, and a parade will waltz through town that morning. A Demolition Derby finishes off the spud-tastic day.

Boo at the Zoo

For the last few days of October, the Tautphaus Park zoo will play host to a new kind of animal: the trick-or-treater.
